Middle-aged engineering consultant John Bailey is made redundant. He struggles bravely with job rejections, his loss of dignity in the face of his wife’s successful business, the break-up of his marriage, shattering revelations about his son and repeated forays into his living room by a mother-in-law who refuses to stay in her adjoining granny flat, as he battles against the odds to find a job.
