From folk to jazz, big band to rock, there’s music events in Devon for all tastes. During the summer months some of the stately homes and gardens such as Powderham Castle, Killerton House and RHS Garden Rosemoor, open their parkland for huge music concerts both popular and classical. These and similar venues also host open air theatre and opera performances.

Many big name bands and solo artists perform at venues such as Plymouth Pavilions and Exeter university Great Hall and Barnstaple’s Queen’s Theatre as well and smaller venues throughout the county.

Music festivals include the Barbican International Jazz and Blues Festival in May at various locations on Plymouth’s historic Barbican. The Dartmoor Folk Festival in August begins with a folk concert and dance and continues with music sessions, children’s festival, craft displays and more. Sidmouth Folk Festival during the first week of August, takes place across the town, park and seafront and welcomes acts from around the world onto the stage.
