Devon loves nothing better than to celebrate its heritage, music, arts and crafts, which is why you’ll always be able to find fun and interesting things to do and see on your holidays. Festivals and events are part of West Country life - from small, intimate events to huge, carnival-style gatherings.
June sees the Lord Mayor's Day in Plymouth, which is a must for those interested in the secrets behind Devon’s beautiful blooms, while beautiful Babbacombe on the English Riviera hosts its Babbacombe Festival, a whole week of exciting events.
July sees the Tiverton Balloon Festival where you'll witness a whole host of colourful hot air balloons, including special shapes, as they ascend!
Even in the colder months, there’s something to celebrate, making family holidays in Devon perfect at any time of year. Agatha Christie fans flock to the English Riviera for the Agatha Christie Festival, as it transforms into the murder-mystery capital of the country. Literary fans will also enjoy the chance to meet and chat with high-profile authors at the Budleigh Salterton Literature Festival and Plymouth International Book Festival, whilst the Tar Barrell Rolling in Ottery St Mary in November is a real Devon experience!
