This recital marks a return visit to Southernhay by Robert Manning (Pond Chapel, Highgate, London) and Tom Corfield (Derby Cathedral).
The programme will be built around a new organ duet composition by Alan Gibbs (a pupil of Matyas Seiber and a friend of the performers); this was written especially for them in memory of Jonathan Monk, son of another friend of the performers, composer Peter Monk who came with them to Exeter in 2007 and whose music they played on that occasion.
Jonathan, a soldier, was killed in Afghanistan in June 2010. The theme of the programme will be remembrance and will almost certainly include the reading of two or three poems by a Devon poet.
A free event with retiring donations invited for church building improvement fund.
