A series of four Sunday classical evening concerts taking place this Autumn and Spring 2012 at the Exeter Northcott Theatre.
Book all four concerts before Sun 16 October and pay a special discounted price of £48 or book three concerts before 16 October and pay £36. You can of course also book for the individual concerts - the choice is yours!
All concert performances commence at 7.30pm. Running time for each performance is approximately 1 hour 40mins.
Sun 16 October - John Lill
Acclaimed pianist John Lill, one of Britain's finest and most popular musicians, leapt to fame when he won the Moscow International Tchaikovsky Competition. He regularly performs in all the European capitals and is a frequent visit to the United States. Recent highlights have been performances with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, Milwaukee, as well as a recital at the Royal Festival Hall as part of the International Piano Series.
At this concert John will be peforming works by Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin and Liszt.
Sunday 27 November - Tim Lowe and James Baillieu
Tim Lowe began playing the cello at the age of 5 and has won many prizes including those from the Musicians Benevolent Fund, the Countess of Munster Trust, ECO Duchess of Cornwall Award and the Jacqueline du Pre scholarship. He was selected for the Tillet Trust Young Artists Platform in February 2011. Pianist James Baillieu has been the prize-winner of the Wigmore Hall Song Competition, and has recorded for BBC Radio3, while giving solo and chamber recitals throughout Europe and further afield.
The programme for this Northcott concert will feature works by Beethoven, Schumann, Brahams and Martinu.
Sunday 5 February - Sitkovetsky Piano Trio
The Sitkovetsky Piano Trio is a collaboration between three young students at the Yehudi Menuhin School. The trio were awarded a Fellowship at the Royal Academy of Music, won the Philharmonia/Martin Musical Scholarship Chamber Music Award and were on the tillet Trust Young Artists' Platform. They have performed in the Purcell Room and the Wigmore Hall in London. All of the trio members are also soloists in their own right.
The trio will be playing music by Haydn, Beethoven and Smetana.
Sunday 4 March - The Navarra String Quartet
In 2008 the Navarra String Quartet won the Outstanding Young Artist Award at the MIDEM Classique Awards in Cannes. They were selected for representation by the Young Concert Artists Trust in 2006, and in 2007 received a Borletti-Buitoni Trust Fellowship. Recent highlights include performances in London's Wigmore Hall, the Aldeburgh and Bath festivals, and recitals in France, Switzerland, Italy, Ireland and the Netherlands.
This performance will features work by Haydn, Brahms, and Schubert.
