One of the highlights of Devon's wildlife events calendar, our annual Wildlife Festival will this year form the focus of Devon Wildlife Trust's 50th anniversary celebrations.
The event, kindly sponsored by South West Water and Tozers, will begin with a wildlife parade through the centre of Exeter from the Central Library to the Cathedral Green.
This free event promises a whole day full of fun as each exhibit will provide a free wildlife-focused activity.
Exhibits include nestbox building, marine-themed crafts, face painting, live insects and animals, birds of prey, an interactive rock pool, pond dipping and lots, lots more!
"This is a special Wildlife Festival to mark our 50th anniversary and it is set to be bigger and better than ever. Exeter is such a green city we aim to bring people closer to the wildlife around them on their doorstep."said Jo Pullin, DWT's event organiser. "If you love wildlife and programmes such as the BBC's Springwatch, then this is the event for you."
Come along for a wild day with your family and join in with our 50th anniversary celebrations!
For more information about the event visit www.devonwildlifetrust.org
Anyone wanting to volunteer or have a stall at the event should contact Jo Pullin on 01392 279244. Devon Wildlife Trust is the county’s leading environmental voluntary body, with more than 33,000 members. The charity manages 45 nature reserves all over the county, including a range of habitats such as woodlands, meadows, wetlands and heaths. DWT relies on charitable donations, grants and the generous support of its members and the general public to raise more than £3million every year. Money raised is spent maintaining our work for wildlife conservation and education in Devon, for present and future generations. The Trust is one of 47 in the UK. Together, they make up the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts.
DWT has Local Groups based all around the county. All play an important role in DWT’s work and are always looking for more volunteers.
