Westward Ho!

The only place name in the country to include an exclamation mark, Westward Ho! on the North Devon coastline was named after the novel written by Charles Kingsley, who lived nearby.

Today it is a quiet family resort, with a vibrant atmosphere and happy bustling shopping centre, looking out over two miles of sandy beach. A pebble ridge provides a backdrop to the beach and protection for the Northam Burrows Country Park - nearly 1000 acres of sand dunes, salt marsh and pasture to explore. Westward Ho! Is also home to the country's oldest 18 hole golf links course in England, the Royal North Devon Golf Club.
