Ilsington, Dartmoor

A pretty village next to Haytor, the most famous tor on Dartmoor, and the Granite railway - built to ship stone to Teignmouth docks. Mining history surrounds village - the remains of Silverbrook lead and zinc mine, closed in 1858, still exist locally. There is a church, pubs, a shop and post office.

Ilsington is situated close to Haytor, where The Country Store, a fine village shop and post office is found and where you can order a hamper of local produce. There is the Carpenter Arms, a friendly pub, that is renowned for it's traditional food.
