The new Tavistock Bunkhouse is right in the centre of Tavistock which nestles in to the Dartmoor Hills close to the Tamar Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The accommodation is located next to the hugely popular Devon Coast to Coast Cycle Route which stretches for more than 100 miles and includes the Tarka Trail, the Granite Way, and the Plym Valley Trail. It’s also within easy reach of the Gawton DH and Tavi Woodlands downhill mountain bike trails. This location makes it an ideal stopover if you are exploring by bike, but it is also a perfect destination to base yourself if you are taking an active short break holiday walking the coastal path or enjoying the Dartmoor National Park through various other outdoor pursuits from canoeing to walking and climbing. The activities on offer around the Tavistock Bunkhouse’s will provide entertainment, inspiration and challenge, whilst its location in the grounds of the Union Pub will mean there’s also a relaxing venue in which to enjoy a drink and a chat about your day. The pub also offers breakfast, packed lunch and evening meal options.
The self-contained hostel accommodation has a maximum capacity of twenty split between three separate bunk rooms that sleep either four or eight people in bunkbeds. The hostel also includes toilet and shower facilities and lockable storage cabinets inside the bunk rooms, whilst features such as the drying room for wet clothing, secure bike storage and wash-down area for kit and muddy bikes tailor this hostel specifically for mountain bikers, cyclists, walkers and outdoor enthusiasts. The Tavistock Bunkhouse provides good quality hostel accommodation for such outdoor enthusiasts, with packages for bunk only or bed and breakfast and the option of packed lunch and evening meal packages also available on request. Additionally, groups are welcome at preferential rates.
