Ingleside is a unique house built in the 1890’s as a ‘Gentleman’s residence’. The house still maintains the tranquil atmosphere from when it was first built and still retains many of its original features.
Ingleside is built on the southern side of Hollerday Hill primarily to take advantage of the fantastic views the location affords, overlooking Lynton, Countisbury Hill and the Lyn Valleys. However, it is located only a minutes walk from Lynton village centre. You just have to step out of the front door, leave the car and enjoy some of the best walks in the UK. From the side access gate is the footpath to the summit of Hollerday Hill. A short distance away is the spectacular Coastal Path which is easy to walk and weaves along the coastline 500 feet above the waves crashing below. The house is also located within Exmoor National Park.
Diana and Keith create a friendly and relaxing atmosphere; nothing is too much trouble to help our guests enjoy their stay at Ingleside.
In all Ingleside has 7 en suite bedrooms, each one is furnished to the highest standards, all with TV’s, radio, tea and coffee making facilities. We also have 2 premiere rooms, both are spacious and 1 has a spectacular balcony where you can sit and watch the sun set on Lynton and the Lyn valleys. All rooms have been sympathetically refurbished to keep their original feeling and features.
We have a large tastefully furnished guest lounge with local books, music, games and jigsaws. Children are more than welcome. At breakfast our guests not only enjoy a full English home cooked breakfast, or vegetarian alternatives cooked in the AGA, but also glorious views across Lynton and the Lyn valleys. In the evening our guests can enjoy sunsets from the dining room.
Keith, our chef, cooks a great selection of locally sourced 3 course evening meals, with fish being a true favorite for our guests. The house is not licensed but guests are welcome to bring their own drinks, which we can chill and serve with your dinner. Diana also serves coffee and mints in the lounge after dinner.
Set within the grounds we have our own secluded car park next to the house with enough parking spaces for each room, an acre of ground set in the hillside where you can walk, or sit and enjoy the spectacular views. In summer, guests can sit under the shade of the trees drinking in the unique atmosphere.
Ingleside offers guests a warm welcome, great hospitality, good food, quality en suite rooms and a stunning location in which to enjoy a short break, long weekend or a full week.
