Situated in the small village of Dousland in Devon, Nine Oaks is the perfect week long retreat. We are in Dartmoor National park where War Horse's Hollywood director had this to say about the local area.
"I have never before, in my long and eclectic career, been gifted with such an abundance of natural beauty as I experienced filming War Horse on Dartmoor..." S Spielberg
Catching the early morning sun the spacious kitchen diner with all mod cons, opens onto a large deck perfect for al fresco breakfasts overlooking the mature garden and pond.
Nine Oaks has 2 en-suite double bedrooms (1 upstairs and 1 king sized). There are 2 single bedded rooms and 1 double bedded room with separate bathroom.
The one third of an acre natural garden is great for wandering or play, and its summerhouse offers great views. You never know, you might see the odd hedgehog, if not, there are plenty of birds. Fifty metres away is open moorland stretching for miles.
On the moors and close to the sea, there’s lots of 'visual opportunities” and plenty more 'physical opportunities' to do locally. A village shop and pub are near to hand. Ten minutes walk away lies the beautiful reservoir of Burrator, with plenty of cycle routes. Tavistock, an ancient Stannary town, is close by.
Ten miles away Plymouth is perfect for all things nautical, including the National Marine Aquarium. Close by there's Dartmoor Zoo, perfect for the children and 'subject of a Hollywood film with Matt Damon'. Nearby are a plethora of National Trust properties, as is canoeing on the Dart and Tamar.
