Board members
The Visit Devon Board consists of independent directors, representatives of countywide groups (Devon County Council, Devon Association of Tourist Attractions and Devon Farms) and nominations from the county’s Area Tourism Partnerships.
The Visit Devon Directors:
►Duncan Currall, Chairman
Duncan originally qualified as a Chartered Accountant, and has worked in the regional newspaper industry since 1975. He has been managing director of various regional newspaper centres around the UK since 1987. He moved to Devon to take up his current position in 2001 and is currently managing director of the Western Morning News, Evening Herald, published from Plymouth, the Express & Echo, published from Exeter, and the Herald Express, published from Torquay.
►Trevor Stanbury MBE, Independent Director
Trevor Stanbury took over the family farm, building it into the largest dairy cattle dealing business in the south west. He opened the UKs first 'open farm' now known as the Milky Way. Trevor helped to form the North Devon Chamber of Commerce and Industry and was an instigator for the creation of the North Devon Marketing Bureau. He is Director and Vice Chairman of the North Devon Marketing Bureau and has been awarded an MBE for services to tourism in the south west.
►Stephen Page, Independent Director
Although born in London,Stephen went to Kingsbridge School and his formative years were spent in the South Hams where his parents owned a small guest house and charter business in Salcombe so he has first hand experience of the tourist industry.After a spell at College in London and working abroad for a few years Stephen returned to Devon in the 1980's and is married to an hoteliers daughter and has two sons.He has been valuing and selling hotels for over 20 years in the West Country and manages the Plymouth Office of Colliers Robert Barry,specialists to the leisure industry, and is a main board Director for the company.Travelling regularly throughout the west country, Stephen has extensive and up to the minute experience of tourism in both small family owned hotels,pubs and self catering business's, aswell as the larger company concerns and he is passionate about promoting tourism and the wonderful environment we are so lucky to enjoy, particularly here in Devon.
►Will Mumford, representing Devon County Council
Will Mumford is the portfolio holder for Economic Regeneration and Strategic Planning.
►Robin Head, representing Devon Farms
Robin Head is the representative for the County group Devon Farms accommodation, a cooperative made up of over 100 farms across Devon offering serviced and self-catering accommodation. The group acts as a marketing umbrella for the six local farm holiday groups in Devon, producing a Devon Farms brochure and website. Most of the members also belong to the national Farm Stay UK organisation and the regional Farm Stay SW. On behalf of it's members Devon Farms has a vested interest in ensuring marketing at local, county, regional and national levels is complimentary and contains a strong rural emphasis. Robin and his wife Lindy have been running a small farm B&B since 1988.
